Bog 6: Project 3 Proposal

My critical question is why do people favor the underdog?

Some of my sub questions include:
What is this such a common theme in pop culture?
What does this tell kids about success?
Does it give us an excuse to be lazy?

I want my piece to be about kids, or teenagers I think. I really think we have biggest impact on people. I want people to really understand the negative effect of counting people out and how that can affect people. I really want it to make people stop and think. I want them for a moment, to think about why the categorize people the way they do and the reason why they do it. I want people to moved. I want them to feel as I did at certain times as I did in the Orlean piece when Colin said some very profound things for a 10 year old.
The audience want are young people in relatively small places like Lincoln where maybe people aren’t as open. Where the status quo is hardly ever changed. I know that I want my audience to be young people from the age of like 10-20. They people of tomorrow. What we have in common is that we have all lived in this age of advancement of new things. Like technology, and social change, and the idea of family changing, so there will be many differing opinions but i think that is what will make it great.
I want to genre to be visual. I think that I am going to an interview/ documentary type of thing. I really find that I enjoy that, and I think that has a big big impact on people. It would be a documentary on kid to young adults on how they view the underdog, or if people view them that way. Maybe kids in a adoption center would be a cool place to start because I have a personal connection with that.
I have a few model texts, some of them are how I want the video to look like, some is how I want the content to come across, and the other shows good use of conventions and modes.

Model texts as of now:

Conventions
  • voiceover
  • real, unaltered footage
  • natural sounds
  • soft background music
  • natural lighting- (just a good thing to do for any video)
  • interview an expert
  • use text

  1. Tiani,
These videos look really cool and seem like a great idea for your project. Which aspects from each video do you plan to model?
I"m a little unclear, though, on what your purpose audience specifically are. What will you film for your project, exactly? Do you want to have same audience as the people who watch this youtube Chanel?
Also, do you have the skills/time to make this kind of video? I think it's a really cool idea; I just need some more clarification on your plans.
